Brooklyn, N.Y. (February 17, 2009)—More Black Art About More Black Ish Art Fund (MBA), an organization focused on nurturing talent, facilitating exhibition opportunities, and providing professional development assistance for emerging artists of the African Diaspora, today announced that it will hold its official Washington, D.C. launch event, “Black.”
“As a young, black artist who has struggled to learn the business of art, self-promotion and marketing, MBA is a true labor of love for me. “Black” is an unveiling of of a project that has been years in the making,” said More Black Art About More Black Art Ish CEO and Curatorial Director Melissa Matthews. “We are extremely excited to work with young artists and help them launch and sustain their careers not only through MBA’s exhibition and professional development opportunities, but also through exposing them to networking opportunities with MBA partner organizations.”
Sponsored by Jack Daniels, Black Collection, Baker by Shawn, RAS and featuring music by D.J Huck Fin, Vocalist Jessica Chambliss and others as well as an interactive installation art piece conceived by young and upcoming black artists, “Black” will be held on February 26th 2009 from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. at Washington, D.C.’s The Republic. Admission is free and artists and art enthusiasts alike are encouraged to attend.
